"How Do I Get Grant Information Without Paying For It?"
As far as the government grant programs are concerned you have to understand that since government grants are funded by taxpayers, the government has to make information about their grant programs freely accessible to the public.
They have done that with both having a website devoted to the government grant programs that are out there and they also provide printed publications that you should be able to find at your local library. Even if you aren't able to find the information you can always ask the librarian about it.
Not all grant programs are provided by the government. There are other entities that have grant programs as well and they include non-profit organizations, clubs, associations and even some businesses.
In fact you may be able to find out about grant programs for free if you go to your local social service agency. You should know that these agencies have been established by the government to help people (and sometimes they even get grants theirselves!) and who would know better about government grant programs than them?
Many times I will get people who want me to provide them with information about grant programs and I guess they just don't realize how much work is involved when finding grant programs that one is eligible to apply for.
Everytime I get a new client (or when I get an old client looking for more information about new or other grant programs), they must first fill out a questionaire that I have set up on one of my pages. Filling this out lets me know a lot of information and helps me to pinpoint the kind of searching that I will have to do when looking for specific types of grant programs.
However finding these grant programs is really no secret at all. You just got to keep on searching until you find the information - sort of comparable to finding a needle in a haystack - the needle is there but you just have to find it.
Over 90% of the information that I have found about grant programs has been online. If you have access to a computer you should be able to find this kind of information as well.
After you have been doing this for a while (like I have) you will start to get the information about grant programs mailed to you which helps to make your research more easier.
But to put it simply - to get information about grant programs without having to pay for it the solution is to simply find the information yourself. It is available online and as far as the government grants are concerned information about them is also provide in printed form and you should be able to find them at your library.

Daycare Grants - Questions And Answers
You might be eligible to receive funds through your States program. Almost all States provide funds for child care. States and/or local agencies (i.e., county, city, regional offices) may provide services directly or purchase them from qualified providers. Child care is also funded through other grant programs at the state and local level. You can check the web site to find more information about these grants, including the names of your state official and state program contact information for this grant program.
Are there special programs to assist child care programs in rural areas?
I live in a rural area. Can I get a grant to start a child care program? center? family child care home? day care?
The government has programs that offer loans to develop community facilities, which may include child care centers. Public entities (such as counties and cities) and non-profit organizations (under certain conditions) may be eligible for the loans. For details, consult government's web site.
Are there funds available for providing meals in child care?
I heard that the government provides funds for meals. How do I find out who to contact to get these funds? Who should I contact to get funding for serving food at child care? How do I get funds for serving food at my child care center? Are nutrition funds available for child care programs? centers? homes?
Your local state office can provide subsidies for meals and snacks for children enrolled in child care programs. You can obtain information on this subject by consulting their web site.
Where do I go to get funds to start or improve my child care program?
Does my state help child care providers? centers? family child care homes? day cares?
How do I contact my state to get help with starting my child care program?
Where can my families find child care funds?
The state agency responsible for subsidizing child care programs can tell you if funds are available to help you start a new child care program or expand your existing program, and they will let you know how to apply.
What other types of funding programs are available?
Does your program provide funds for youth programs?
What funds are available for youth programs? programs that serve youth?
Funding is also provided to local communities to support young people, particularly runaway and homeless youth, and their families through three grant programs authorized by the government. More information about these funding programs is available via a .pdf download from the government website. (To view the information, you must first download and install the free Acrobat Reader if you have not previously done so.
For more information about the basics of this program you can visit the website.
Grant funding is also provided for research, evaluation, and demonstration programs designed to explore specific issues, evaluate programs, and test new theories. To date the government has funded more than 150 demonstration projects and is currently funding 13 State Youth Development Collaboration projects designed to promote the youth development approach. For more information, you can visit their website also.

For More Information About More Kinds Of Grant Programs.....
What do grants have to do with "Dream Jobs"? - A lot!
There are many people who have their own dream job but don't know how they are going to achieve it or how and where they are going to get the money to help finance their dream job. That is where grants and grant programs come in.
Loans cause a problem because people don't want to take on more debt.
Grant programs are different because you don't have to pay grant money back.
So many people have their own dream job in mind but they don't think that there will be anyway that they will be able to achieve it. Some people give up hope altogether of being able to achieve their dream job.
But as a grant researcher I have seen many examples of those who were able to achieve their dream jobs with the help of a grant (or two).

"I Have No Time To Apply For A Government Grant"
But again this goes back to the reason WHY you want the grant.
For instance a lot of people have posted that they are going through problems such as their electricity is going to be shut off and they need a grant right away. First of all the utility companies can't just shut off your power without written warnings to you. Some of them will give you extensions to give you more time to pay your bill. One of the things that you should do is get in contact with your utility company to see what kind of payment arrangements can be worked out to help pay your bill. Some utility companies will also provide you with information about different grant programs that may be able to help you.
You should also get in contact with your nearest social service agency. They help people all the time by providing them with information about grant programs that may be able to help them so this would be the place to go.

"Where Do I Apply For A Daycare Grant?"
However I find that you are asking for quite a lot of money to start a daycare in your home. I hope that you have a very good reason for asking for that kind of money.
Number 2 - the only way to find these grant programs is look for them. However since you are not a client you will have to find this information yourself. If you take a look at my grant pages you will see that I mention 2 grant programs for those that want to start their own business. One is for $20,000 and the other is for $100,000! If these programs sound of interest to you then you should definitely look them up to see if you qualify to apply for them.
Do the work yourself instead of asking someone else to do the work for you. There are grant programs are out there and I should know because I do this for a living! The fact that you haven't found them yet doesn't mean that they aren't out there - it just means that you haven't found them yet.
yes i searched your website but it seems like i get the run around when i got to grant sites. im trying to avoid fees to get grant information. would you be able to help me? do u help out those to get grants and charge a fee later i want to know and i want to apply for a grant but i just need helP! please thankX
Here is an excerpt from my Payment Information Page:
How to Hire a Freelance Grantwriter
Count on having to pay a freelancer before you get any grants. Very few professionals will accept a percentage or commission or deferred payment. If you don't have the cash needed, collect enough from your board, staff and volunteers to pay for an hour or two with a freelancer. He or she can clarify some initial steps you could take on your own and suggest some potential grantors for you to research and cultivate. Don't ask a freelance grantwriter to volunteer their services. Seasoned grantseekers get asked constantly to work for free. If they do volunteer, it's usually for organizations or individuals they already have a relationship with. The fact that you're a non-profit carries no weight – that's all they work with!"
You also have to remember that it is not only the government that has grant programs.
You have to be a client before I will attempt to find you any grant programs that you are eligible for. If you are not a client then you will have to do the work and find the information yourself or you will have to find someone else to do it for you. As you can see from my daycare and grant info pages there are many grant programs out there for those that want to start their own business - but they have to know how to do it right!

Weeding Through The Information To Find Those Grant Programs
It sounds to me like you want the easy way out and you are not going to get it. The only way that you are going to get the details on the kind of grant programs that you are looking for is to look for them.
Now you can ask other people that know about these kinds of grant programs to give you the information about the grant programs but other than that unless you make the effort and do the work that is required to find this kind of information then you are simply not going to get it.

These Grant Programs Will NOT Come To You - You Have To Go To Them!
Contacting these agencies should be relatively easy. You can contact them by phone, by regular mailing address and you can even communicate with some of them via fax - I know this because I have done this before.
You can't just sit and wait for these grant programs to come to you. If you don't have access to your own computer then use on at the public library. If you don't want to do that get out your local phone book and start making calls.
Although I have seen in some instances where some actual grant recipients were contacted by the grant program itself this doesn't happen the majority of the time.
You have to get started and do the work yourself - especially if you do not want to pay a fee for grant program information. A lot of websites advise that you do a very thorough research when looking for grant programs and this is something that I whole-ly agree with. You have to do the work be it researching online or even just calling around.
If you want to find these grant programs you will have to do the work!
There is no secret here - just work!

"Which Companies Can I Trust?"
But here is something else that you should consider. Where do you think these companies got their information? They did the work to find the information - that is why they charge a fee because they have already done the work to find the information.
If you're worried about having to pay a fee or don't have the money to pay the fee then you can find the information yourself - just like all those companies do. Over 95% of all the grant information that I have found has been online but I do the work to find it - which is exactly what you will have to do if you want to find the information.
Have you talked to anyone at your local social services agency? Since they are a part of the government who would best know about the government programs than them?
Now other grant programs that are offered by non-governmental agencies require more work but the bulk of information about their grant programs are online as well.

Where Can I Get Free Grant Applications Sent To Me?
Now its not only the government that has grant programs. When you're talking about organizations and foundations and such you will have to find out about their grant programs separately - meaning you will have to contact the organization specifically. A lot of them have websites and a lot of those websites include contact information such as an email address, a phone number and a regular street address where you can write them.

The Best Way To Get Free Grant Information Without Having To Pay Someone Is To Look For The Information Yourself
An ironic twist on this whole thing is that how do you think the "professionals" get this grant information? They look!
Many, many times I have said that the information on government grants has to be made "easily accessible to the public". To do this the government has both an offical website and information about their grant programs are available in printed form at public libraries. I have most recently heard that the government figures that once they put up their website then people would automatically know about it and would go to the site and get the information. But that is not happening. I have heard comments to the effect that while the government does have an official website about their grant programs - they don't advertise it - and there-in lies the problem.
But getting back to the subject of finding the information about grant progrms without having to pay for that information. It is just so simple - you have to find the information yourself. You have to put in both the time and effort to find the information about these government grant programs. (And hopefully it will give you a "newfound" respect for those that do that kind of work for a living.)
It's a little different with the grant programs that are offered by non-governmental agencies. They are not under the same mandate as the government is. But the basic principle applies - you have to look for these programs. They won't come to you - you have to go to them.

Is There An Easier Way?
Now you can ask someone who is familiar with grants to help you find grant programs that you are eligible for and whether or not they are able to help you is their choice.
Another "easier" way is to find someone or business that has received the kind of grant that you are looking for and ask them about how they got their grant.
Another thing that you can try is to get in contact with your nearest social service agency because they are familiar with many government grant programs and they have helped many other people apply for them so they would be a good source for you to try out for more information about grant programs.
All in all if you are not willing to go through the necessary effort to find these grant programs then you are not going to find these grant programs - It is just as simple as that!

Your Local Social Services Agency
One of the best places to find out more information about grant programs and other kinds of assistance programs would be your local social service agency. If you don't know where yours is then you should be able to find it in your local phone book. You should also be able to find it by looking online at one of the websites that have local listings of your area.
One of the best things about going this route is that it does not cost anything to talk to these people. That means its free! They are the best place to go for information regarding grant programs and other kinds of programs that provide assistance. Why? Because they do it for other people!
A good part of the number of social service agencies are part of our government. That means that government workers work there and the government programs run through there. So who would know better about government grant programs than the facility that is run by the government?
If your local social service organization is in a hard to get to area remember too that you should be able to contact them by phone and by regular snail mail too. I have even done some occassional work with them via fax.
